Rose Hip Season

The mighty rose hip!  The first frost is upon us and the best time to pick these little treasures is here!

ROSE HIP TEA
  • 1 tea bag
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 mL) dried rose hips
  • 3 to 4 whole cloves
  • Sugar or honey to taste
  • 1 cup (240 mL) boiling water

Preparation:

Steep tea bag, rose hips, and cloves in boiling water for five minutes. Remove hips and cloves. Reheat if desired. Sweeten to taste with sugar or honey.  You can also do without the tea bag and just enjoy the flavour of the Rose Hip on it's own.

There are unlimited things that you can do with Rose Hips. Tea, jam, fruit leather, and soup are just a few.  As an added bonus they are higher in vitamin C than commonly eaten fruits and are very good medicine for those with joint problems, flu, urinary tract infections just to make a few.
